Rato
Penato

Rato Penato is the artistic identity of Pablo Martinez Alcaraz, operating at the intersection of research, activism, and technology, with human perception as both subject and method. Between realism and surrealism, the work uses ambiguity to question the systems we build, the realities we perceive, and the relationships that shape how we inhabit the world.

Participatory noise pollution map

QuietFuture.org

QuietFuture.org is a community-driven movement for making noise pollution visible. It invites people to record, map, and share the sounds that affect their daily lives, turning individual experiences of noise into collective evidence. Through public participation, environmental awareness, and digital mapping, the project exposes noise as an urban and social issue.

3D interactive demonstrator · value-aligned building automation

The Alignment Office

A 3D interactive demonstrator about value alignment in smart building control. You act as the automation system and control shades, lighting, and thermostat settings in an office. The occupant has hidden preferences; when your actions conflict with what they value, they override the system.

The demo makes the problem tangible: future building automation should not only optimise energy use or generic comfort metrics. It must learn what people value in context — daylight, view, temperature, control, and agency — to avoid misalignment, overrides, and loss of trust.
